SETTING UP YOUR OWN BLOG

Setting Up Your Own Blog
Creating your own crafting blog is a great way to integrate into the crafting community. Blogs are super easy to set up, to maintain, and best of all, they are free.

BLOGGER:  This is the platform used by most craft bloggers.  It is owned by Google,  Here is a link that will walk you through the set up: Blogger Getting Started Guide

WORDPRESS:  Does not have the flexibility of Blogger, but is still a good place to build a blog.

FACEBOOK:  Creating a FB page is also an option, but for beginners, it really is not necessary.

 FREE AND PAID MEMBERSHIP GALLERIES

If you do not want to create a blog,  you can create galleries and still share your projects and participate in challenges.  Here are some sites you may want to investigate.

The Outlawz Challenges:  This was my first on-line community and also the first challenge that invited me to join their design team.  I learned a lot here and grew as a designer.

Free Membership Challenge Community
I would recommend this community as the first place for a new designer to start entering challenges. The Outlawz is a friendly and enjoyable place to learn and to meet people who share your crafting passion.

Colleen Holmes owns the Ning and has surrounded herself with a team of wonderful ladies who love their craft and who will provide all the encouragement and support a new designer could hope to receive.

In addition, The Outlawz has 8 different challenges, one for each day of the week,  and a progressive challenge which allows you to earn free digital images.  They also have a number of forums that will help you build your following, exchange ideas, and there is even a place for charitable crafting challenges that allow you to give back by creating cards for worthy organizations.

Splitcoast Stampers - This is one of the oldest, if not the oldest online gallery.
SCS has lots of fabulous tutorials and some really talented designers on their teams. There is a membership fee to participate in some features, but not the gallery.  Note: Individuals who are not members of SCS will not be able to comment on your entry into their challenges.

Stamp TV:   (Free Membership Site) Great site!  You can learn new techniques participate in fun challenges.  The site is free.  The only downside again is that it is a membership site, so if you use this as your main gallery, a lot of folks will not be able to comment on your projects.   Features card making, stamping techniques and project videos for paper crafters featuring stamps by Gina K. Designs.  You do not have to use Gina K. products to participate.   I have found their videos to be very, very, helpful.

Stamp Nation:   (Paid Membership $9.99/month)  This is a wonderful site that is owned by Catherine Pooler.   Link to video:  https://youtu.be/gt9D9RF0NwY
